Watch The Story:
On October 6, 2017, there was a gathering at Perrone Robotics' Crozet facility in the heart of downtown Crozet, Virginia, for an important announcement. Governor Terry McAuliffe was coming to town to announce that Perrone was planning to make a capital investment of $3.8 million and to create 127 jobs over 3 years.
There was such a sense of excitement and pride around the community when the announcement was made, but possibly the most exciting part of the day was the Governor's test ride in Perrone's autonomous vehicle. Long-time Perrone employee Garrett Moore sat in the drivers' seat, with hands off the wheel, and founder Paul Perrone rode in the back while the driverless car escorted Governor McAuliffe and Secretary of Commerce Todd Haymore around the Crozet test track.
Perrone employees were excited to reveal that theirs is the only autonomous vehicle that can do bear detection!
